Kenosha, Wis. - The Thunder baseball team defeated Illinois Wesleyan 8-3, on Friday and Saturday in an elimination game of the CCIW Baseball Tournament. The contest was called due to darkness on Friday after the completion of the top of the fifth inning. The game was resumed on Saturday at 10:30 AM with Wheaton at bat in the bottom of the fifth inning.
As the winner of the game, Wheaton will play top-seeded Carthage later on Saturday in the championship round of the double-elimination tournament. Carthage is undefeated and Wheaton will need to defeat the Red Men twice on Saturday to win the CCIW Tournament Championship. The winner of the CCIW Tournament earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Thunder plated eight runs, on 15 hits, on no errors, while Illinois Wesleyan scored three runs on nine hits, with one error.
John Little (4-1) earned the win for the Thunder in five innings of work. Little allowed two runs, on three hits, with one strikeout and six walks. Senior
Ed McCaskey (PICTURED RIGHT) pitched the final four innings on Saturday once play was resumed to earn his school-record fifth save of the season. McCaskey allowed one run, on six hits, with one walk and no strikeouts.

Danny Pyne (PICTURED LEFT) was 3-for-3, with two RBI. Catcher
Brian Whartnaby was 2-for-3, with a double as he drove in a run and scored one run.
Josh Weaver was 2-for-4, with a run and
Mark Price was 2-for-4, with a RBI and a run scored. Junior shortstop
Brian Kolb was 2-for-5, with a run scored.
