Hook and Worsowicz bow out in the quarterfinals at the NCAA-III Women’s Tennis Championships

– Wheaton College senior Jordan Hook and freshman Elizabeth Worsowicz participated in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships on Friday and Saturday at Collins Hill Athletic Club in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

The unseeded doubles tandem of Worsowicz (PICTURED RIGHT) and Hook won their opening round match in the 16-pair doubles tournament on Friday afternoon. The duo defeated the team of Sarah D'Elia and Emily Lombardi of Bowdoin College by scores of 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. 

With Friday's win, Worsowicz and Hook advanced to Saturday's National Quarterfinal round with a match against top-seeded Siobahn Finicane and Olivia Muesse of Pomona-Pitzer. In the first set on Saturday Hook and Worsowicz jumped out to a 5-2 lead, en route to winning the first set 7-6 (8). Finicane and Muesse rallied to win the second set 6-1 and the Pomona-Pitzer duo closed out the match with a 6-4 victory in the final set. Hook and Worsowicz close out the season with a 27-5 record in doubles competition. 

The pair has earned All-American recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as doubles players for advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinal round.

Hook's brilliant singles career was ended on Friday morning in a first-round loss in the Singles Championships, as third-seeded Laura Chen of Carnegie Mellon rallied to top the Thunder All-American 6-3, 0-6, 5-7. 

Hook ends her senior season with a 24-3 overall record in singles action. In a spectacular four-year career she posted a career singles record of 112-8, winning 93.3-percent of her matches over the span. She became the first women's tennis player in Wheaton College history to record 100 career victories and her 112 career wins is the eighth-highest total ever by a Division III women's tennis player. Hook compiled a 96-21 record in four years of doubles competion, pairing with five partners in that span.
