Wheaton men's golf finishes in third place at CCIW Championships

- The Wheaton College men's golf team finished the final round of the CCIW Championships with a third-place finish out of eight teams on Saturday.

Illinois Wesleyan University won the team title with a 308 on Saturday and a final four-day score of 1,165. Carthage College finished second (1,188) and was followed by Wheaton (1,202), Millikin University (1,221), North Central College (1,234), Elmhurst College (1,248), Augustana College (1,280) and North Park University (1,328).

IWU's Bennett Blakeman ended with a four-day total of 285 to take first place individually at Whisper Creek Golf Course. Wheaton had a pair of top-10 finishers as freshmen Dan Downey and Steven Moore both shot 293 to tie for fourth place. Downey shot a 79 and Moore carded a 77 in their rounds on Saturday.

With their top-10 finishes, Downey and Moore both earned CCIW All-Conference honors.

Wheaton shot 312 as a team on Saturday. Greg Richardson ended with a 79 for a total of 310, Chase Yacko shot an 80 and tallied a 311, and Bryan Sandvig tallied a 77 to finish with a total of 313.
