Wheaton men's golf maintain third place after Round Three of the CCIW Championships

- The Wheaton College men's golf team remains in third place after the third round of the CCIW Championships on Friday.

Illinois Wesleyan University still holds a comfortable 22-stroke lead at the Whisper Creek Golf Course after totaling a team score of 300 on Friday. Carthage College shot 303 on the day to stay in second and Wheaton carded 309 to fall 11 strokes back of the Red Men. They are followed by Millikin University (314), North Central College (319), Elmhurst College (309), Augustana College (334) and North Park University (331) in the composite standings.

Wheaton was once again led by freshman Dan Downey, who shot the lowest round of the day at 71. He is currently tied for second overall and trails IWU's Bennett Blakeman by five strokes.

Steven Moore put together a steady round to shoot 75 and he was followed by teammates Chase Yacko (81), Bryan Sandvig (82) and Greg Richardson (84).

The CCIW Championship will be decided starting at 9:00 AM at Whisper Creek on Saturday.
