Men's golf wins the Elmhurst Invitational

Freshman Dan Downey carded a 71 to finish second

Oakbrook, Ill. - The Wheaton College men's golf team finished first on Monday at the Elmhurst College Invitational at Oakbrook Golf Club. Today's tournament was the final tuneup for the Thunder before this weekend's CCIW Championship Third and Fourth rounds in Huntley, Illinois.

Wheaton won the event by 17 strokes as the Thunder carded a team score of 298. Aurora took second with 315 strokes, Elmhurst shot 317 in third place, Olivet Nazarene "B" was fourth with a 319, Olivet Nazarene "A" was fifth with a 331 and North Park carded a 349 in sixth place.

Aurora's Brandon Vicory was the top individual with a 70. Wheaton freshman Dan Downey was second with a 71 and Steven Moore took third with a 74. Greg Richardson carded a 75 in sixth place. Sam Hayes played as an individual and carded a 77 in seventh place.
