Naperville, Ill. - Justin Marble and Justin Tomal placed high yet again in an invitational to lead the Wheaton College wrestling team to a seventh-place finish at the North Central College Invitational on Saturday.

Host North Central won the invite with a team score of 157.5. They were followed by Wabash College (119), University of Wisconsin-Platteville (111), Olivet College (84.5), North Central B team (65.5), MSOE (54), Wheaton (34.5), Simpson College (34), Knox College (22.5) and Concordia (Wis.) University 20. Maranatha Baptist Bible College did not register a team score.

Marble made it 4-for-4 as he has placed in the top five in every invitational so far this season. He took second place, losing 6-2 to nationally-ranked Gabe Youel of North Central College in the 184-pound class final.

"Marble took another step up the ladder tonight," Wheaton head coach Jim Gruenwald said. "He's faced highly ranked guys before, and it wasn't close. Tonight, he stayed right with Youel all the way and I think he's starting to believe he belongs up at that level."

Tomal also continued his strong season with a 5-1 record at 174 pounds. He took third place with a 10-6 decision over Gabe Watson of Wabash.

"Tomal lost to that kid from Wabash earlier this season at the Concordia Open," Gruenwald said. "Then he just crushed him tonight. He made some good adjustments as the day went on and it really keyed his success."

Caleb Cardenas came out with a winning record for Wheaton, going 3-2 at 133 pounds to finish in the top eight. Other Thunder wrestlers participating included Matthew Cordell (1-2) at 157 pounds, Stephen Takashima (1-2) and Casey Krahn (0-2) at 149 pounds, Jonathan Sbraccia (0-2) at 141 pounds and Paul Harvey (0-2) at 165 pounds.

Wheaton returns to the mat on Dec. 17 with 7:00 PM home dual match against Elmhurst College.
