Breanna Bohlen was named to the website’s D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the women’s basketball, while sophomore forward
Tim McCrary was a Team of the Week selection for men’s basketball.
Bohlen made an impressive debut for the Thunder last week as she helped lead the team to a 2-1 record in its opening week. Bohlen averaged 16.3 points per game, with 5.7 rebounds per game and 3.3 assists per game. The newcomer shot 50% (16-32) from the field, including 64.3% (9-14) from three-point range.
Last Friday she scored 24 points, in just her second collegiate game, in leading Wheaton to a 78-73 victory against St. Mary’s (Ind.). Bohlen shot 6-for-8 from three-point range, with seven rebounds and five blocked shots in the victory. On Saturday she scored 14 points, with five rebounds, as Wheaton defeated Bluffton University 80-76 in the championship game of the Bluffton Tip-Off Tournament. Bohlen was named the MVP of the Bluffton Tip-Off Tournament.
McCrary helped lead Wheaton to a pair of victories and the tournament championship at its own Lee Pfund Classic last weekend, as the sophomore was the recipient of the Will Landry Memorial Tournament MVP award. McCrary averaged 19.5 points and 11.5 rebounds, with a 53.8% (14-26) field goal percentage in two games.
Last Friday night, Wheaton defeated Trine University 54-39 as McCrary grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, and scored 10 points. On Saturday he scored 29 points, with six rebounds, three assists and three steals in leading the Thunder to an 88-72 victory against McMurry University.
