Wheaton College's Jennifer Parisi and Brian Wurtz have been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Midwest Region Team for their stellar efforts in the 2009 season.

Jennifer Parisi, a junior on the Thunder women's cross country team, has had a breakout season that included a second-place finish at the 2009 CCIW Women's Cross Country Championships. Last Saturday, she finished 17th in the 273-woman field at the NCAA-III Midwest Regional with a time of 22:15 on the 6,000-meter course. She will be competing this Saturday at the 2009 Division III Cross Country Championships, in Beachwood, Ohio, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College.

Wurtz earned All-Region honors for the second straight season. The Thunder senior finished 18th in a field of 282 runners last Saturday at the Midwest Regional, with a time of 24:56 on the 8,000-meter course. In a strong final season with the Thunder, Wurtz won the individual titles at the Elmhurst College Early Bird Invitational (9/4); Aurora's "Spartan Cross Country Classic" and the Carthage Invitational. On Saturday, Wurtz will be competing at the Division III Championships for the second consecutive year. Last year he finished 53rd out of 287 runners.
