Wheaton, Ill. – Six members of the Wheaton College women’s soccer team have been selected to the 2009 CCIW All-Conference women’s soccer team.

Maria Della Torre is a four-time All-CCIW honoree
Senior Taryne Lee was a First Team All-CCIW selection for the fourth time in her career and was recognized as the CCIW “Player of the Year” for the third consecutive season. Lee’s selection marks the 15th time that a Wheaton player has received the league’s “Player of the Year” award. Lee leads the Thunder with 20 goals and 12 assists this season. She has scored a league-best nine goals in conference play this year, with five assists. Wheaton’s all-time leading goal scorer, Lee is 18th all-time in Division III history with 97 career goals and 11th in Division III history with 242 career goals.

Jaime Orewiler
Jaime Orewiler scored three goals in CCIW play this year
Senior Maria Della Torre and sophomore Jaime Orewiler each earned First Team selection as midfielders. This season marks the fourth consecutive year that Della Torre has earned First Team All-CCIW recognition from the league’s coaches. The versatile midfielder scored both of her goals this season in conference play and two of her three assists for the year came in CCIW action. Orewiler’s First Team selection follows her recognition as a Second Team honoree last year as a freshman. Orewiler has scored seven goals this year, with four assists. She tallied three goals, with two assists in league games this season.

Lauren Anderson
Lauren Anderson has played in every match over the past four seasons.
Senior defender Lauren Anderson was named to the First Team for the second consecutive year. Anderson, a team co-captain, anchors a Wheaton defense that has recorded nine shutouts this season, posting a 0.94 goals against average. Anderson has played in each of Wheaton’s 101 games the past four seasons, as the consistent defender is fourth all-time at Wheaton in matches played, and among the top-10 in Division III history in matches played.

Forwards Brittany Bergh and Ali Kopelman were both named the All-CCIW Second Team. Bergh, a junior for the Thunder, has scored nine goals with eight assists this season. In CCIW contests she tallied six goals, with five assists. Kopelman also earned Second Team recognition last year as a Thunder freshman. She is second on the Thunder this season with 12 goals and has added five assists. In conference action Kopelman has scored six goals, with five assists.
