COMPLETE MEN'S RESULTS
Elmhurst, Ill. – The Thunder cross country teams competed at the 2009 CCIW Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon. The event was hosted by Elmhurst College at Eldridge Park. The Wheaton women's program finished second and the Thunder men's team took third place.
Wheaton, the defending CCIW Women's Cross Country Champion, was edged by North Central, as the Cardinals broke Wheaton's two-year hold on the conference title. North Central scored 48 points, Wheaton was second with 49 points, Illinois Wesleyan scored 69 points in third place, Elmhurst took fourth with 84 points, Carthage scored 122 points in fifth place, Augustana took sixth with 138 points, North Park was seventh with 238 points and Millikin scored 239 points in eighth place.
Thunder junior
Jennifer Parisi finished second with a time of 23:51.5 as she earned All-Conference recognition. Junior
Sara Greeley also was an All-CCIW honoree as she posted a time of 24:11 to finish seventh. Senior
Sarah Beasley finished just behind Greeley with an effort of 24:15 in eighth place, as she earned All-Conference honors. Senior
Jennifer Bowles was the fourth Wheaton runner to earn All-CCIW accolades as she posted a time of 24:42 in 14th place.
Martha Bentz ran the course in 24:58 to finish 18th,
Jennifer Anderson was 22nd with a time of 25:03 and
Hayley Hunt was 28th in 25:18.
North Central won the CCIW Men's Championship with 15 points, Augustana scored 54 points in second place, Wheaton was third with 91 points, Illinois Wesleyan was fourth with 116 points, Carthage scored 153 points in fifth place, Elmhurst took sixth with 161 points, North Park finished seventh with 198 points and Millikin scored 246 points in eighth place.
Thunder sophomore
Collin Christensen was the top performer for the Thunder with a time of 27:41 to finish 13th, as he earned All-CCIW recognition. Freshman
Mark Phillips posted a time of 27:59 to finish 17th and
Parker Thompson was 18th in 28:05. Sophomore
Jimmy Greene was 20th in 28:09 and freshman Todd Vankerhoff ran the course in 28:15 to finish 23rd. Freshman
Nate Hatton recorded an effort of 28:37 to finish 28th and senior
Brendan Murphy was 32nd in 28:44.
