MEN'S RESULTS
Somers, Wis. – The Thunder men's and women's cross country teams each finished in first on Friday at the Carthage Invitational, hosted by Carthage College at the UW-Parkside course in Somers, Wisconsin.
Wheaton finished first in the seven-team women's race with 34 points. Carthage tallied 56 points in second place, St. Norbert scored 75 points in third place, UW-Oshkosh was fourth with 91 points, Edgewood scored 127 points in fifth place, UW-Whitewater was sixth with 165 points and Harper College scored 209 points in seventh place.
Wheaton's depth proved strong as nine Thunder runners finished in the top-18 places in the race. Senior
Sarah Beasley was the top runner for the Thunder with a time of 23:43 on the 6K course to finish in fourth place. Junior
Sara Greeley finished fifth in 23:43.6 and junior
Jennifer Parisi posted a time of 23:43.8 in sixth place. Freshman Kristin Miller finished ninth with a time of 24:09.6, while senior
Jennifer Bowles was 10th in 24:27.5 and sophomore
Abby Mitchell ran the event in 24:33.9 to finish 11th.
Parker Gary was 15th in 24:38.2,
Hayley Hunt posted a time of 24:41.5 in 16th place and
Martha Bentz was 18th with a time of 24:50.6.
The Thunder men put five runners in the top eight scoring places as the Thunder scored 24 points to earn the victory. North Central scored 42 points in second place, St. Norbert finished third with 111 points, UW-Oshkosh was fourth with 133 points, Edgewood took fifth with 136 points, Carthage scored 160 points in sixth place, UW-Whitewater was seventh with 161 points and Harper College scored 162 points in eighth place.

Brian Wurtz was the top finisher for the Thunder with a time of 26:17.0 to finish in second place, just behind the first-place time of 26:13.3 that was posted by Jacob Austin of North Central. Freshman
Nate Hatton ran the 8K course in 26:41.4 to finish in third place overall. Senior
Mark Phillips was fifth with a time of 26.48.8 to finish fifth,
Jacob Goertz was sixth with a time of 26:49.7 and Collin Christiansen posted a time of 26:57.4 in eighth place.
