WOMEN'S RESULTS
Winneconne, Wis. – The Wheaton men’s and women’s cross country teams faced tough competition on Saturday at the Brooks Cross Country Invitational, hosted by UW-Oshkosh at Lake Breeze Golf Course. The Thunder men’s team was 12th in a 35 team field that featured seven nationally ranked teams. The Wheaton women’s program was 12th out of a 34 team race that featured six nationally ranked teams.
North Central won the men’s race with 22 points, UW-Stevens Point scored 97 points in second place, Augustana was third with 157 points, Calvin scored 158 points in fourth place, UW-Oshkosh tallied 168 points in fifth place, UW-Whitewater was sixth with 186 points, Washington (Mo.) scored 199 points in seventh place, Grinnell finished eighth with 223 points, Olivet Nazarene scored 270 points in ninth place, Chicago registered 272 points in 10th place, DePauw finished 11th with 327 points, Wheaton scored 336 points in 12th place, Hope finished 13th with 395 points, Coe was 14th with 401 points and Minnesota-Duluth scored 415 points in 15th place.
Senior
Brian Wurtz was the top runner for the Thunder, as he ran the 8K course in 24:53 to finish 15th in a field of 551 competitors.
Collin Christensen was 60th with a time of 25:34;
Mark Phillips was 70th in 25:44.
Jimmy Greene posted a time of 26:05 to finish 93rd and Todd Vankerhoff was 98th with a time of 26:09.
Jacob Goertz recorded a time of 26:11 to finish 105 and
Parker Thompson was 115th in 26:19.
Calvin was the top women’s team with 80 points in first place, Washington (Mo.) scored 93 points in second place, Minnesota-Duluth finished third with 98 points, DePauw was fourth with 140 points, UW-Oshkosh scored 182 points in fifth place, Bethel (Minn.) scored 186 points in sixth place, Hope was 188th in seventh place, Chicago tallied 211 points in eighth place, North Central finished ninth with 284 points, UW-Stevens Point scored 292 points in 10th place, UW-Whitewater finished 11th with 341 points, Wheaton was 12th with 352 points, Illinois Wesleyan scored 390 points in 13th place, Olivet Nazarene tallied 431 points in 14th place and Carroll (Wis.) was 15th with 450 points.
Jennifer Parisi (PICTURED RIGHT) was the top performer for the Thunder as she ran the 6K course in 22:36 to finish 37th in field of 466 runners. Senior
Sarah Beasley finished 43rd in 22:48, and
Sara Greeley posted a time of 22:53 in 54th.
Martha Bentz was 108th with a time of 23:49 and
Annie Shults finished 110th in 23:50.
Abby Mitchell posted a time of 23:55 in 117th place and
Jennifer Anderson was 119th in 23:59.
